Stress
The whole process can be both exciting and terrifying. But once you've made the decision and chosen competent professionals to help, the purchase of your new home can be a rewarding (even fun!) experience. Just remember, be realistic in two areas:
1. Financial -- Don't marry your mortgage.
Be comfortable with what you are spending. There are other things in life besides paying your mortgage. Set aside about $3,000 to cover closing costs.
2. Expectations -- Unless you've got lots of money, you won't be able to afford what Mom and Dad have. Those things usually come a little later down the road.
